What is fixed wireless terminal? | Fixed cellular terminal Vs fixed wireless terminal

Fixed Wireless Terminal Introduction:
Fixed Wireless Terminals can be described as external and embedded modems, gateways and routers. These all devices are used with this terminal so that cellular connections can be utilized. Use of this device is now being done in wide verity of applications such as Wireless Local Loop, 3G router, network router back-up cards, branch office routers, PBX routers, industrial modems and terminals, and mobile routers.

Fixed Wireless Terminals are the best solutions for providing the voice, fax and high speed of data connectivity to small businesses and individuals. Instead of using the traditional fixed line dial up or DSL infrastructure they can now depend on fixed wireless terminals widely. This has improved the infrastructure of mobile network as well in a much positive way. Major reason of its popularity among small enterprises and individuals is cost saving that they achieved with its use. The cost saving has been acquired through the use of Least Cost Routing (LCR) with this terminal. LCR has helped the users to turn fixed to mobile calls into mobile to mobile calls.

These devices use wireless communication links so that they can deliver the plain old telephone services and broadband services to its customers. And these customers are those whom cannot access the traditional landline infrastructure. The leading markets today are providing SLIC and DAA technology that are providing the highest density and reliability for the purpose of communication.

Difference between Fixed Cellular Terminals (FCT) Vs Fixed Wireless Terminal (FWT):
Fixed Cellular Terminal: is a technology because of which telephone calls arrive as cell phone number. This is a device which allows the enterprise to make or receive calls through the GSM or CDMA network. In this device the SIM card is inserted and it is capable of holding multiple SIM cards at a time and then user can connect as Trunks through the Trunk port. PBX (which can have a combination of wire-line trunks as well as these Fixed Cellular Terminal trunks) uses to decide that which network can route the outgoing call of user. As we talk earlier about LCR, this is also used with FCT to make decision about the network which will work. If call is made through landline to mobile then it would be routed because calling from landline to cell is expensive but if the call has to be made from mobile to mobile then there would be no change of route. The capacity of supporting the SIM cards of FCT is up-to 8 cards or more.

Fixed Wireless Terminals are like the FCT, but it can provide better voice connectivity, data connectivity, IP Fax, voice bandwidth, Wi-Fi and mini switches etc. But the use of FWT is done more as an alternative to fixed line broadband. This means that after inserting the GSM card in FWT user can connect it with the system so that he can enjoy the 3G data connectivity. This can also be used with phone and then call can be received on the cell number in a landline. Wi-Fi is basically introduced with this so that computer can easily connect with it. In short this is best to use at small level like offices and homes.

Benefits of using Fixed Cellular Terminal:
Today the new thing that we come to know about was Cellular fixed wireless. This is the first step in replacing the landline connections completely. This technology uses the fixed wireless terminal (FWT) for the first time so that it can connect ordinary equipments with the wireless network. The FWT emulates the telephone company, providing loop current and signaling over the tip and ring pair.

Some famous Fixed Wireless Terminals include:
